AI Product Requirements Assistant

Project Overview

Type: Personal Project
Tech Stack: Python, Streamlit, OpenAI GPT
Role: End-to-end builder (ideation, product design, development)
Timeline: Planned Prototype

Summary

AI Product Requirements Assistant is an AI-powered tool that transforms rough product ideas and feature requests into structured product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.

It is designed to help product managers move faster from an initial idea to requirements that can be reviewed with stakeholders and engineering teams.

Problem Statement:

Product requirements often begin as scattered notes, stakeholder requests, meeting discussions, or loosely defined ideas. Turning these inputs into clear and structured requirements takes time and can result in missing assumptions, dependencies, edge cases, or acceptance criteria.

Solution:

AI Product Requirements Assistant enables users to:

  • Enter a product idea, problem statement, or feature request

  • Generate structured product requirements

  • Create user stories and acceptance criteria

  • Identify assumptions and dependencies

  • Surface missing information and open questions

  • Refine the generated requirements before sharing them with engineering

The tool acts as an AI assistant for requirement preparation rather than replacing product judgment and decision-making.

How It Works:

  • Enter a product idea or feature request

  • AI analyzes the problem, intended users, and expected outcome

  • The system identifies missing information and assumptions

  • Structured requirements are generated

  • User stories and acceptance criteria are created

  • The product manager reviews and refines the final output

Tools and Techniques

  • OpenAI GPT – requirement analysis and content generation

  • Python – application logic and processing

  • Streamlit – interactive user interface

  • Prompt Engineering – structured requirement generation

  • Structured Outputs – consistent requirement formatting

Key Learnings

  • Designing AI workflows around real product management activities

  • Converting unstructured business inputs into structured outputs

  • Creating prompts that produce consistent requirements

  • Identifying where AI can assist rather than replace product judgment

  • Designing human review into AI-generated product documentation

Real Life Use Cases

  • Product managers converting stakeholder requests into user stories

  • Startup founders structuring early product ideas

  • Product teams preparing requirements for engineering discussions

  • Business analysts converting business needs into functional requirements

  • Teams identifying gaps before development begins

Key Outcomes / Results:

  • Faster conversion of early ideas into structured requirements

  • More consistent user stories and acceptance criteria

  • Earlier identification of missing information

  • Reduced repetitive documentation work

  • Better starting point for product and engineering discussions
